Marijuana Industry Tops Charts With Highest Growth Rates In Job Market
Now that 34 states have approved medical marijuana and ten have legalized it for all adults, the weed business is booming. A new report from cannabis website Leafly and Whitney Economics shows that legal positions in the industry increased by 44 percent last year with over 64,000 new jobs added, in some states growing from zero or double digits to several thousand.

As part of South by Southwest festival’s series on “cannabusiness,” former U.S. House Speaker John Boehner John Boehner, a documented prohibitionist while in office, and Acreage CEO Kevin Murphy shared a SXSW panel on Friday, during the conference’s cannabis symposium. Many took offense to his presence, most notably the Equity First Alliance (EFA) “John Boehner’s voting record in Congress (1991-2015) shows that he consistently opposed criminal justice reform, civil rights, LGBTQIA+ protections, environmental protections, and public education. After 24 years of devastating communities with his policies, Boehner wants to profit off cannabis in the wake of the War On Drugs,” the organization said in a news release.
